Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a large stock pot to 350 ºF.
  2. Add the batter, egg, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and cloves to a medium sized mixing bowl. Whisk in the milk. Add the apples and stir to combine.
  3. Carefully drop the fritter batter by large tablespoons into the oil, fry in batches, for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Add the powdered sugar to a small bowl and slowly add the water. Stir until thin enough to drizzle over the fritters.
  5. Using a slotted metal spoon remove the fritters from the oil to a platter lined with paper towels. Drizzle the fritters with the icing and serve immediately.
